Verstappen reference in EL3 in Austin, Leclerc in difficulty

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) was the fastest in the final practice session of the US GP. The Dutchman completed a lap of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin (Texas) in 1'33''305, a few hundredths off the time of Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) established during EL2 contested on Friday.

Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) was the closest with more than 2 tenths behind, but he is the only Ferrari driver at the top of the timesheet. His teammate Charles Leclerc saw his session end on his installation lap following an engine problem.

The Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton are slightly behind, completing the Top 5 behind Lando Norris (McLaren). The MCL34s display promising performances on a flying lap since Carlos Sainz Jr ranked 7th between Alexander albon (Red Bull) and Kimi Räikkönen (Alfa Romeo).

Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) finished in 9th place ahead of the Renault de Daniel Ricciardo et Nico Hulkenberg. Romain Grosjean (Haas) achieved the 13th fastest time after his crash the day before, ending between Lance stroll (Racing Point) and Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso). The former GP2 champion was almost half a second ahead of his teammate Kevin Magnussen who preceded Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo) and the Williams by George Russell and Robert Kubica.

Condemned to last place on the grid, Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) completed the ranking. The Mexican is expected to start from the pit lane in the race.
