Verstappen sad to see Zandvoort leave the calendar, but proud of what the Netherlands are doing 

Although it has been extended, the Dutch Grand Prix will not go beyond 2026, much to the dismay of Max Verstappen, who is nevertheless very happy with what he was able to experience on his home turf.

Verstappen sad to see Zandvoort leave the calendar, but proud of what the Netherlands are doing

To Max Verstappen, the next two editions of the Dutch Grand Prix will be special. For the simple reason that they will be the last two, maybe not in history but in any case not for a long time.

Never really reassured about its future, and while many countries wish to integrate the calendar in the long term, the Dutch round only got a one-year extension, until 2026. For the future, its directors have already been informed that it will not be taken into account from 2027.

Present at a press conference this Thursday, Max Verstappen did not logically escape questions concerning the future “disappearance” of his national round. Although he deplores its absence from the 2027 campaign, the four-time world champion was proud of what his country was able to do to bring back the F1 after more than 30 years of absence.

« It's something I'm necessarily sad about., entrusts the pilot Red Bull who imposed his law there from 2021 to 2023. But on the other hand, I am also very proud of what they have done. When I started Formula 1, I never imagined that we would return to Zandvoort. [From] the races they experienced, the event they managed to create… I have a lot of respect for that and I am proud to have played a part in it. Not to mention the fans who have been incredible. I look forward to the last two years. But they can be very proud of what they have accomplished »

A speech shared by other players on the grid such as Lewis Hamilton. Yet beaten by Max Verstappen on site, notably in 2021 during their battle for the title, the Englishman said to himself " really sad " to lose Zandvoort, welcoming among other things a " incredible crowd ».

If Formula 1 no longer attracts as many countries looking for sportswashing in a few years, it is very likely that a track like Zandvoort will then have its place on the calendar again!
