Vettel hoped to beat Alonso in qualifying

Fernando Alonso was the fastest in the qualifying exercise contested in the rain at Hockenheim and the Asturian signs his second consecutive pole after the one won at Hockenheim. Red Bull was nevertheless effective on the wet German track but Sebastian Vettel had to bow more than three tenths late to the F2012 from Asturias. “It was complicated in these conditions because you could lose the car going through puddles, but I think I had the car to take pole today », regrets the double reigning world champion. “We have to analyze Alonso's strategy even if it was a bit of a lottery in these conditions. »

Si McLaren and Lotus missed their qualifying, Sebastian Vettel will remain wary of a possible return to the front of the top teams during the race. “We can't rule out McLaren for tomorrow, they were fast in qualifying until the last session where I don't know what happened. Lotus was fast in the race, the gaps remain extremely tight. We are consistent in being able to finish on the podium, which is the most important thing. We will do our best tomorrow depending on the weather. » The local driver lost time by being slowed down by his teammate but he does not seem to hold any grudges. “I lost a lap driving behind him but you couldn't see anything in the mirrors and he probably didn't see me. »
