Vettel hopes for rain to stand out in Brazil

Sebastian Vettel was again discreet during the first tests of the Brazilian Grand Prix since he achieved the ninth time of the second session half a second behind his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. As he competes in his penultimate event with Red Bull Racing, the German is working to refine the settings of his RB10 in order to end his career with Milton Keynes on a good note after a difficult season. “We had a brake leak which took some time to repair in the first session. The second went better apart from the multiple red flags. Of course we would have liked to ride more, but what can we do? »

Like most of the other drivers present last year at Interlagos, Sebastian Vettel had to get his bearings following the modifications made to the Sao Paulo layout, including a resurfacing which changed the grip of the track. “I preferred the old pit entrance. I don't know why they were so generous with the paint, painting some corners that are almost a straight line. The track has, however, become better. Even if it's still quite bumpy on the pit straight, the grip is pretty good. »

Sebastian Vettel no longer seems to be expecting miracles this season, the reigning world champion having only scored four podiums in 17 Grands Prix. But the German knows that the uncertain weather in Sao Paulo can redistribute the cards and the Red Bull driver is hoping for rainy weather this weekend in order to close the gap with the competition. “ I don't feel very comfortable behind the wheel at the moment on a fast lap. We still lack speed”, admitted the Red Bull driver. “But all that would be worthless if the track was wet. Things would turn out to our advantage if the rain gets involved, but qualifying should be contested here because the circuit is very short. It also depends on luck and strategy. »
