Vettel: Ferrari still looking for cause of crash

While Sebastian Vettel was moving at a good pace at the wheel of the Ferrari SF90 at the Catalunya circuit in Barcelona (Spain), the four-time world champion went off the track in turn 3. If the German emerged unscathed from his contact with the wall, the car has suffered damage requiring repairs of varying duration.

The Scuderia is mainly seeking to identify the causes of the exit from the track after indicating that Sebastian Vettel had been the victim of a mechanical problem which caused the accident.

“I had the feeling that there was a problem at the front left. There was nothing I could do afterwards to avoid the impact., explained Sebastian Vettel. I no longer had control of the car and it went more or less straight into the barriers. The team is working to identify the source of the problem. »

“It would have been better if there had been an escape route and the car hadn’t hit anything because it suffered a lot from the impact, said the former world champion. We must remain careful in identifying the problem and that is why all the staff present here and in Maranello are working on it. »

Scuderia Ferrari is having a difficult start to the week after its limited running this Tuesday (110 laps covered by Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc) following a check on the cooling system at the start of the day.

“We covered quite a few kilometers last week, but the aim is to complete the program and so the plan was to do more than 40 laps this morning. This is not ideal because it wastes time, but the most important thing is to identify the problem. The car was badly damaged, but it did its job of protecting me.”, added Vettel.
