Vettel: Ferrari too far behind in qualifying

Sebastian Vettel kept the pressure on Lewis Hamilton at the Belgian GP last weekend, but the four-time world champion was unable to gain an advantage over the Mercedes W08 on the Spa-Francorchamps route. The pilot of the Team stayed on pace with the leader but was unable to aim for pole against the Briton, failing 2 tenths behind the Silver Arrow.

“The satisfaction is there, assured Sebastian Vettel, quoted on the official F1 website. We knew the pace and we stayed on the attack throughout the race. We know we have to improve in qualifying. (Mercedes) is capable of gaining 3 or 4 tenths with its engine, that's what makes the difference. »

“If we had won pole the day before, it would have been a completely different story, added Sebastian Vettel. I remain convinced that we have made a better car, but it's up to everyone to judge. We can have the advantage on certain circuits, and maybe (Mercedes) on others, but we would have different Sundays if we managed to change the trend in qualifying. »

“However, it is not easy to achieve this, said Sebastian Vettel. The level is very high and we are facing the best team in F1. They have won the titles the last two seasons more or less without opposition and that is already a very good job but it is not enough. »
