Vettel frustrated after losing to Ricciardo

Sebastian Vettel failed at the foot of the podium less than a second from Daniel Ricciardo at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The pilot of the Team Ferrari was beaten by an aggressive strategy of Red Bull who anticipated the Australian's second stop.

The RB12 driver was however slower than the four-time world champion due to the wear of his tires, but the German was unable to gain the advantage on the Hungarian track where overtaking is difficult.

“We were much faster, but this is Hungary, and speed is not enough here, regrets the former resident of the Milton Keynes stable. We were back to less than a second at the end and he was starting to make little mistakes, but it wasn't enough. »

Sebastian Vettel remains impressed by the dominance of Mercedes but regrets that the result does not better reflect Ferrari's potential against Red Bull. The Red Bull's stable is only one point from the Prancing Horse, Kimi Räikkönen having also lost his duel against Max Verstappen.

" The car was efficient, adds the German. We couldn't catch the Mercedes who seemed to be playing in another division, but we were in the game with Red Bull. We had the potential to get the podium, but you can be aggressive if you're in front, which was the case for them, and there was no way to get through. »

The four-time world champion also complained several times about not respecting the blue flags with the latecomers.

“We get angry at the moment because we have the impression of wasting a lot more time than the others, recognizes the Ferrari driver. It's very hard to be in their place. We have to respect the fact that they are racing and I think they are doing their best, but the nature of the track doesn't help. »
