Vettel / Hamilton: impossible duo for Horner

As we mentioned on Sunday, a rumor is circulating about the possibility of seeing Lewis Hamilton join the ranks of Red Bull at the end of the season. Even if he doesn't close the door to the pilot McLaren, Christian Horner remains cautious and measured.

The director of Red Bull Racing particularly remembers the explosive cohabitation between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton at McLaren in 2007. The bickering between the two men did not surprise him then. According to Horner, two drivers at the same stage of their careers can hardly get along. “It is difficult to imagine cohabitation between two drivers of the caliber of Lewis and Sébastien under the same roof, he explained. This would tend to spark as we saw with Fernando Alonso and Lewis at McLaren. So we are very happy with our two drivers, we will see how things develop. »

But this probable war of egos is not the only downside. Lewis Hamilton has been involved with McLaren for many years and has never mentioned the desire to leave the team from his beginnings. “Lewis is a wonderfully gifted driver, admits Christian Horner. He is obviously happy at McLaren. Of course, if he wanted to drive for Red Bull, we couldn't ignore a driver of his caliber. But I know he is committed to McLaren for several years and I think he will be there for some time to come. But who knows, in the future you can never rule anything out. But it would take strong will on both sides to do something like that. »
