Vettel: “I need some time for myself”

What are your plans for winter?

Unplug ! I think I need some time for myself. It was quite a difficult and exhausting year. I need time. I'm pretty sure, based on the last few winters, that I always come back hungry. You have to know how to move away in order to come back better. Just enjoying the house, my family, my friends. Doing things I don't normally have time to do. Tinker. Fixing things around the house. All these little things of everyday life. The truth.

You say that you know what needs to be changed in the stable before the start of the next season. Are these changes technical or human?

Lots of little things. We got a little lost halfway. Things didn't go well and we fell back at the end of the championship, but we understood what went wrong. We learned a lot from the season. The team is strong, but a lot has happened in the stable.

The death of our President, Mr. Marchionne, had an impact. It was difficult. I believe it is up to us to look at the smallest details in order to come back stronger as a group in order to build a stronger whole for the future.

Personally, are there things you need to change? An approach to review?

I had no problem raising my hand to acknowledge my mistakes. I also know how quickly things can go wrong and how differently they could have turned out. So yes, there are things I need to review and others I don’t because it’s never a good idea to complicate everything either. I know what I have to do.
