Vettel: “I thought I could go inside”

Max Verstappen had just taken the best of Sebastian Vettel by rising to 3rd place at the British GP. In an excess of optimism, the four-time world champion tried to respond but he crashed into the RB15.

Both cars were able to reach the finish. Max Verstappen finished 5th behind his teammate Pierre Gasly, while Sebastian Vettel finished 16th after having to return to the pits and receiving a 10-second penalty.

“I thought I could go through the inside but he stayed on the left and I couldn’t avoid the crash. It was my fault, recognized the pilot Ferrari who was not surprised by the performance of Red Bull at Silverstone. Their pace didn't surprise us because they were constantly in the game. »

Max Verstappen was able to save precious points even if Sebastian Vettel's error most certainly cost him the podium.

“He sent me to the gravel, explained the Dutchman. I was lucky to be able to continue after flying on the curbs. The management didn't work very well after that. We had a good fight with Leclerc, even if I had to avoid contact several times. It’s still a good thing to finish in the points after this accident. »
