Vettel: “The Mercedes are quite far away”

A significant gap separated la Ferrari SF15-T Sebastian Vettel on both Mercedes de Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg this morning at Monza. The four-time German world champion once again showed himself to be the best of the rest, but found himself relegated to more than 1″5 behind the World Champion at the end of the first hour and a half of driving in Italy.

If the former resident of Red Bull reduced the gap in the afternoon, while still pointing to more than seven tenths, the new idol of Italian fans hopes to continue this momentum tomorrow and recognizes the superiority of the Silver Arrows.

« The first two cars are quite far away, unfortunately, but maybe we can come back closer tomorrow and we will see what happens in the race. The focus now is on the car and how to find a few tenths for tomorrow because we are not completely satisfied. Qualifying here will be very important: overtaking is possible with the long straights, which helps, but the first corner is very narrow and the higher you are, the easier it is. »

For his first Italian Grand Prix in red, Sebastian Vettel knows that everyone expects a good result from Scuderia Ferrari. “Seeing all those flags was a good warm-up. Expectations are high, and all we can promise is that we will give it our all. »

The third free practice session will begin tomorrow at 11 a.m., before the qualifications scheduled for 14 p.m. and which will be followed live on our website. Photos from the Italian Grand Prix can be viewed here.
