Vettel: Maintaining momentum from last two races

Sebastian Vettel despite having lost the Drivers crown to Lewis Hamilton in Mexico, the quadruple world champion still intends to put an end to the decade of drought in the Italian clan, the last title of Maranello dating back to 2008.

Vettel saw his teammate Kimi Räikkönen win in style in Texas and himself found his way to the podium in Central America at the end of a race where the SF71Hs certainly suffered the law of Red Bull but dominated the Silver Arrows.

Back at Interlagos, where he won last year, the leader of the Scuderia assures that his team has the means to do even better after experiencing a gap between Singapore and Japan. Ferrari is currently 55 points behind Mercedes with a maximum of 86 units still in play, a double worth 43 points.

« We are fully focused on the fight among the Manufacturers, said Vettel from the Brazilian paddock. The time has not yet come to look in the rearview mirror and look at what happened this season. We have two races left to go. We will try to regain as many points as possible from our rivals

It's difficult to predict what will happen this weekend in terms of performance. We managed to get the car where we want it to be, which is positive. We regained competitiveness over the last two rounds. We must maintain this dynamic here and in Abu Dhabi.

We have the potential to do even better and we will give everything. We have seen in recent races how quickly things can change. ».

Asked about his motivation for next season after losing a new Drivers' title, Vettel acknowledges that the blow is hard to take but assures that he will be ready to go back into battle.

« I still have one more mission to accomplish this year and I want to win, that’s always been the case, he added. The last race was difficult to digest and there will undoubtedly be difficult moments during the winter but there is no question of me giving up ».

Perhaps the arrival of a Charles Leclerc and the pressure he could put on his new teammate would do Vettel the greatest good.
