Vettel: Mark Webber deserves to be on pole

Sebastian Vettel failed to score an eighth pole this season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The four-time world champion on cloud nine at the end of the season was defeated by his teammate Mark Webber who beat him by a tenth on the time sheet. The Australian had already managed to take the advantage over the German during qualifying at Suzuka, but the latter suffered from an SREC problem.

“Above all, I think it’s a superb result for the team”, comments Sebastian Vettel who won during the first two editions of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. “I first thought at the start of qualifying that Mercedes looked very fast with both Nico (Rosberg) and Lewis (Hamilton). Mark and I weren't fazed, but they were still very competitive. It looks like we found some time in Q3. Mark did a very good lap and I congratulate him. I should have done a little better, but I don't know if it would have been enough. Mark deserves to be on pole today, he did a good lap without making any mistakes. »

The start of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be given tomorrow at 14 p.m. French time. Click on this link to see photos of the tests.
