Vettel not afraid of rain in Austin

An unexpected guest this weekend in Austin (Texas), the rain is likely to disrupt the progress of the United States Grand Prix. Indeed, the weather forecast predicts showers for free practice on Friday as well as qualifying on Saturday.

The last qualifying session held in the rain dates back to Hungary at the end of July. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) had reversed a compromising trend by taking pole position, while the Ferrari had not transposed their rhythm seen on a dry track into wet conditions.

Asked about his ability to cope with bad weather, Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) is sure of himself. “I don’t think rain will be a problem for us. I'm not afraid of showers. If our car is fast, it will be fast in the dry and in the wet”, assures the German.

Sebastian Vettel received support from Maurizio Arrivabene this week to become world champion with the Scuderia, he who is 67 points behind Lewis Hamilton in the general classification. “Maybe here and there the rain didn’t help us but I think that’s part of the game.”, he explains, referring to the abandonment of the German Grand Prix after an error in the rain.

“I don’t believe you can blame external factors, such as the climate. We have to deal with it and other drivers have done better than us. » A fine player, the four-time world champion will approach the United States Grand Prix with the knife between his teeth. " It is very simple. We're focused on winning, then we'll see where everyone else finishes. »

Lewis Hamilton could be titled next Sunday according to different scenarios.
