Vettel didn't want to 'close the door' on Button

Sebastian Vettel is threatened with a penalty while the driver Red Bull took second place at the expense of Jenson Button. The German took the advantage over the Briton at the hairpin by exceeding the limits of the track at the exit of the bend. For the pilot McLaren, the maneuver of the double reigning world champion does not warrant comment. “There’s really nothing to say. The TV cameras have said it all, I prefer to talk about the race”, said the 2009 world champion.

For his part, the Red Bull driver defended himself by specifying that he had gone wide to avoid contact with the MP4-27 at the end of the race. “It was a tricky overtake, I didn’t know if he was inside”, explains the German. “A collision is the last thing anyone could want. I couldn't see him on the side of the car and I wanted to give him enough space and went wide. We were all struggling with our tires and I think Jenson was, that's why I passed him. I thought he was still there and I didn't want to close the door on him too soon. I wanted to give him space. There was no grip behind the track limit but I was still able to pass him. »
