Vettel “in no rush” to decide his future

With each new Grand Prix in 2020, Sebastian Vettel must face the litany of questions about its future. Not renewed by Ferrari before the start of the season, the German has been strongly anticipated in recent weeks by Racing Point, which will become Aston Martin in 2021.

Vettel had recognized “ informal discussions » with the Silverstone team during the last Hungarian GP but assured that nothing had been decided concerning his future projects. A situation which has not changed two weeks later while the F1 takes up residence in the United Kingdom for a fortnight.

« I would give you an answer if I already knew it, declared the future ex-Ferrari driver. It is more realistic to be patient. Maybe it will take two weeks or more. We'll see what the future has in store for us. Nothing has changed on my side compared to what I have said in recent weeks.

I am not in a hurry. I want to be sure I make the right decision. I've already been very clear that I still have a lot to offer if I'm given the right car. So it depends on the options available ».

Retirement or sabbatical year in 2021 for a return the following year and the advent of the new technical regulations? Vettel is not ruling out any options.

« Physically, I don't feel worse than earlier in my career, said the former pilot Red Bull. I am in good shape.

If I look ahead a little, there are obviously big changes on the horizon for 2022. It can be an exciting prospect. As a sports lover, I hope these transformations bear fruit. Will I still be on the grid then? I do not know ».

If Vettel's recent campaigns have been frustrating, even disappointing, not seeing the German in F1 again would be a loss for the sport.
