So in a fast lap and especially improving at the end of Q2, Fernando Alonso (Alpine) crossed paths with a Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) in slow motion at the start of turn 10, the last of the circuit.

Obviously embarrassed, the Spaniard was unable to improve his time and thus saw the doors of access to Q3 close in front of him. Angry, Fernando Alonso did not hesitate to express his dissatisfaction on the radio after the incident which would logically be studied by the race management.

After consultation, the latter delivered its verdict regarding Sebastian Vettel. Caught by the patrol, the German received a three-place penalty on the starting grid for the Austrian Grand Prix this Sunday, as was the case for Yuki tsunoda (Alpha Tauri) found guilty of the same act on Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) the previous weekend.

Eighth on the timesheet, Sebastian Vettel will start 11th. The penalty therefore benefits George Russell (Williams), Lance stroll (Aston Martin) and Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) who will start 8th, 9th and 10th respectively.

In addition, one point was removed from his license bringing his total to 6 over a period of twelve months.
