Vettel remains concerned about Red Bull reliability

The abandonment of Sebastian Vettel in Monza was costly for the German who could get the points for sixth place. The pilot Red Bull has fallen back to fourth position in the Championship even though it is only two points behind Lewis Hamilton, winner of the Italian Grand Prix and now closest rival to the leader Fernando Alonso. One Renault Sport F1 revealed that the alternator was suffering from reliability issues at low speeds, Viruses-Châtillon worked hard to overcome these mechanical problems. However, the reigning double world champion remains concerned and hopes not to have such a mishap again.

“It is certain that what happened was not appreciable”, comments Sebastian Vettel in the Singapore paddock where he won last year after starting from pole. “I remain confident that it will improve because we have already had a problem with the alternator twice this year. We're working hard on it but it's a bit complicated because we still don't know exactly what's wrong, otherwise we would have fixed it and it wouldn't be repeated a few months later. We still have some ideas and it should be better in the future. »

Sebastian Vettel does not set victory as his ultimate objective, aware of living a very different season from last year. The German, who is 39 points behind the driver Ferrari at the head of the Championship, hopes to gradually make up the gap that separates him from the Asturian. “Regularity is the most important thing given the races contested so far and I think we have a car fast enough to claim the top five. I think it’s a fairly consistent result if we look at the situation in the Championship. We must obtain results of this order until the end of the year. We are not in a position to win in every event this year but I think we have a good car and that should not change in the next races. »
