If there is one driver who started the season on the wrong foot it is indeed Sebastian Vettel. For his last year at Ferrari, the German is simply living a nightmare. In difficulty at the wheel of his SF1000, he is only in 13th place in the championship (10 points) after three races, his worst start since 2008.
To try to get back on track, Sebastian Vettel changed his chassis. And after the first day of testing in Barcelona (5th then 12th), the German seems to be more comfortable even if there are still improvements to be made.
“It was a two-way day. I'm happy with our pace over one lap even if in the afternoon I had a little more difficulty stringing together the laps. However, I had a better feeling aboard the car,” smiles the German.
“We tried a lot of things today (Friday) and we collected some data that we can use tomorrow (Saturday). We'll see how it will be in qualifying."
As for Sunday, Sebastian Vettel wants to be optimistic. “In terms of race pace we shouldn't be that bad but obviously we still have work to do, particularly on tire management. This will be the key and with the high temperatures it is far from given.”
