Vettel faces disqualification in Hungary

After the first lap pileup, Sebastian Vettel quickly found himself in a position to win the race. The pilot of theAston Martin fought with Esteban Ocon after the second start, without finding an opening on the Frenchman, for more than 60 laps.
“Obviously I’m disappointed, explains Vettel. I think my pace was better than Ocon's. But he didn't make a single mistake, so I never got to try anything. It's not an easy track to overtake so I couldn't do anything. He totally deserves his victory. For our part, it’s a good result for us but when we are so close to victory and we finish second, we are obviously disappointed.”

Sebastien Vettel also returned to the accident at the start where he said he was lucky to have found himself in the right place.
“I had a very bad start but in the end I found myself in the best place possible, admits the German. There was a lot of trouble ahead of me. I just took my time, stayed inside and found myself at the front. This incident really helped us get this podium. »

However, Vettel is not yet guaranteed to finish on the podium at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Indeed, the commissioners have just announced that the Aston Martin driver is under investigation. The cause: Vettel stopped at turn 12 during the deceleration lap, under orders from his team, to save fuel. Except that the commissioners could not extract enough from the car of the four-time world champion, which could cause Vettel to be disqualified.
“It was only possible for the stewards to remove only 0.3 liters of fuel from Vettel's car, can we read in the FIA press release. However, in article 6.6.2, drivers must ensure they have at least 1 liter regardless of the time of the weekend. »
The last time such a situation occurred was in 2012 with… Vettel!
