Vettel poses as challenger

The message is clear. Dietrich Mateschitz's team is ready to fight to prevent the Brawn GP from taking the lead in the world championship. Two weeks ago, Sebastian Vettel had taken pole in Turkey, which had raised real hopes in the camp of suspense fans. Indeed, a pole in front of Jenson Button meant a possibility of victory and, therefore, spice in the run-up to the world title. But a poorly negotiated turn on the first lap gave the Briton another success. But Sebastian Vettel is not discouraged and wanted to show it this Friday.

While the first two free practice sessions are traditionally used to refine the settings of the car to adapt it to the circuit, the times still fell. In the morning, Sebastian Vettel had already set the best time, he repeated it in the afternoon. And, as in the first session, it was his teammate Mark Webber who lit the fuse. The Australian put together a series of fast laps (1:21:102 to 1:20:402 to 1:19:597) before being dispossessed of the reference mark by his young teammate. Vettel, in 1:19:456, thus asserts himself as the main challenger to Jenson Button in the fight for the world championship standings. But, for the German, everything remains to be done. The qualifying session will be decisive on Saturday. And then it will be necessary not to miss out on the first turns of Silverstone?
