Vettel: Only the future interests me

The German from Ferrari does not want to dwell on the Reds' failed start to the season.

Vettel: Only the future interests me

From Austria, where the Scuderia finally hopes to stop the hegemony of Mercedes this season, Sebastian Vettel had something other to do than comment on the recent statements of his compatriot Nico Rosberg, the 2016 champion believing that the house of Maranello would never catch up with the delay it has on its German rival after eight races. 

« I'm not interested in the past, I'm only interested in the future, still reacted the driver with four world crowns. If I just looked back, I would see that some of our performances were not very flattering. We didn't have the rhythm, we were missing this or that. But I work differently. I look ahead. 

I'm not stupid though, I know that time is against us. With each race that passes where we are not ahead of Mercedes, we lose ground. But I'm optimistic by nature, I'm looking forward to racing on Sunday and I feel like anything can happen.  

We have new parts to test on Friday, to learn more compared to the previous weekend. I know our team is competent and full of ideas to improve the car ». 

Ferrari had introduced a new aerodynamic package but certain developments, notably the floor, were not satisfactory. If Mercedes had a complicated weekend in Austria last year with a double retirement due to a mechanical problem and tire problems in the furnace of Spielberg, Vettel's teammate, Charles Leclerc, believes that the Silver Arrows will remain very difficult to beat. Given the first third of the season, it's difficult to contradict the Monegasque...
