Vettel: “An entertaining race”

At the accounting level, Sebastian Vettel is one of the losers of the Canadian weekend. The four-time world champion was only able to win fifth place under the checkered flag of Montreal, and is now 26 points behind second place in the championship, held by Nico Rosberg.

The German of Team Ferrari, however, preferred to hold back his performance on the track, which saw him come up from the back of the grid to fail just behind his teammate Kimi Räikkönen. “It was an entertaining race and I had a good comeback, but obviously there wasn't much more to hope for. During the first laps I wasn't very happy with my performance, I was very aggressive, but I couldn't find any spaces. There was no place, so you had to be patient and it's a shame because if you're lucky, you can easily shave five, six, seven or eight seconds off your race time. »

The old pilot Red Bull knows that his mount was well able to compete for the podium over the weekend, his Finnish teammate having missed third place after a spin at the hairpin of the Gilles Villeneuve track, which caused him to lose precious seconds ahead of to the Williams de Valtteri Bottas. “We got the most out of the car. Without the penalty, there was a real chance for the podium. »
