Vettel: A perfect session in Singapore

Sebastian Vettel is fast approaching its second consecutive title. If the date of his coronation depends on the result of his rivals, the German signs a perfect copy by achieving a new pole at the Singapore Grand Prix. The pilot Red Bull will start in front of his teammate Mark Webber, who fails more than three tenths of the reference time. The Australian will initially ensure a gap with the other competitors.

The world champion is delighted with this result which places him in an ideal situation for the start of the race. “I attacked a little hard in the chicane of turn no. 10 on my last lap and I preferred to abandon to spare the car », explains the pole sitter. “I was satisfied with my first lap but I could still be faster. The session was still perfect. It was a big challenge between the long laps and the many turns. We kept a cool head by learning from our mistakes. »

Sebastian Vettel is able to beat the record for poles in a season set by Nigel Mansell in 1992. The former world champion had achieved 14 poles out of the 16 Grands Prix on the season calendar. “This record is exceptional, Nigel had an incredible year in 1992”, adds the Red Bull driver. “We are not having too bad a season but it would be a mistake to start thinking about these things. We have a long race tomorrow and that will be where we score points. We continue to focus on what is most important. »
