Vettel wants to “enjoy pole” on his land

Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) took full advantage of the troubles of Lewis Hamilton on the lands of Mercedes in Hockenheim (Germany). The leader of the general classification of Drivers will start at the head of the peloton after signing the second pole position of his career on this circuit, the 55th since his arrival in F1 in 2007.

The German even goes so far as to describe this Saturday as “one of the best moments” of his F1 period. “I have a bit of a tumultuous relationship with this track, but so far everything is great and the car is handling very well. »

Lewis Hamilton's bad luck (14th on the grid) did not play a role in the morale of the pole sitter. “I think it doesn't matter, we'll see what happens tomorrow. We never wish harm on others. It was a shame to see him leave the session, and I sincerely mean that. But we have to take care of our weekend, and try to race perfectly tomorrow, that's the most important thing. »

Sebastian Vettel has therefore built up his confidence for the race, but also does not want to see himself too big too quickly. « We seem to be slightly faster than the Mercedes. We made progress between Friday and today, but with the drop in temperatures, everyone has the same feeling of having improved the feeling with the car. »

For the rest of the day, Sebastian Vettel will « enjoy the pole. When I wake up tomorrow, I'm going to look forward to the start, but there are a lot of things that can slow you down in your running progress. »
