While he hoped to take advantage of the 8e place on the rack Max Verstappen to regain victory after 3 months Austria, Charles Leclerc couldn't do anything during the Singapore Grand Prix this Sunday. On the track, the Monegasque collided with another driver Red Bull, a tough Sergio Pérez who made life difficult for him from 1er the 59e racing lap.

Placed in 2e position when the lights went out, the Mexican dove inside the first corner to take control of the race. The Grand Prix contested on a drying track, Sergio Pérez mastered the elements and did not crack under the pressure of Charles Leclerc who was ultimately too short to deprive him of a 2e victory this season after Monaco, the 4e of her career.

« This is certainly my best career performance., admitted the native of Guadalajara before getting on the podium. I managed to control the whole race. It was very difficult. The last few laps were so intense. I didn't feel it when I was in the car but once I got out I felt it. I gave everything I had to get the victory today »

However, Sergio Pérez could not yet fully celebrate this 4e success in F1. He was in fact under investigation by the panel of stewards for possibly having left more than 10 car lengths during the 2e Safety Car intervention this Sunday.

« I have no idea what's going on (concerning the investigation), he pointed out. My engineers told me I was under investigation so I just widened the gap. » Summoned to the commissioners, Sergio Pérez finally received a 5-second penalty. A sanction that changed nothing…

Another sanction following non-compliance with Safety Car rules... too many rules kill the show! Why not have given him a 5 second penalty when he was still in the race rather than making a post-finish decision with the risk of having a podium ceremony which ultimately does not correspond to the classification established by the FIA?
