The British Grand Prix was interrupted following a massive pile-up at the start at Abbey corner. At least five single-seaters were involved in this frightening accident, that ofAlexander albon (Williams), George Russell (Mercedes), Esteban Ocon (Alpine), Yuki tsunoda (Alpha Tauri) and Guanyu-Zhou (Alfa Romeo). There was particular concern regarding the state of health of the Chinese rookie. The C42 of Guanyu Zhou rolled after being hit by the W13 of Russell, itself hit by the AlphaTauri of Pierre Gasly. The Alfa Romeo then ended up on its roof before hitting the tire barriers and ending up behind the protective barriers. The #24 driver's extraction was lengthy but fortunately Guanyu Zhou was able to be taken conscious to the Silverstone Medical Centre. There is no doubt that the halo and modern safety devices played a key role in ensuring that this British Grand Prix did not turn into tragedy. Thai Alexander Albon was also taken to the medical center.
