Extreme vigilance for Typhoon Hagibis in Suzuka

For a few days now, all we've been talking about is him in circles. F1 : Typhoon Hagibis is approaching the coast of Japan and threatens to sweep the Suzuka region this weekend.

Aware of the danger, the local authorities are making daily updates with the Japanese Grand Prix officials, in the morning at 08:00 a.m. and in the evening at 18:00 p.m.

“The FIA, Formula 1, Suzuka Circuit and the Japanese Automobile Federation are closely monitoring Typhoon Hagibis and its potential impact on the 2019 Japanese Grand Prix. communicated the FIA this Thursday morning.

All efforts are being made to minimize disruption to the F1 program but the safety of fans, competitors and everyone present at the Suzuka circuit remains the absolute priority.

All parties involved will continue to monitor the situation and provide regular updates as the situation evolves.”

The promoter of the Japanese F4 championship, which was to appear as a curtain-raiser to the Grand Prix, has already made the decision to cancel the Suzuka round. It must be said that the paddock of the series is located in a flood zone and the awnings used are not really designed to withstand violent winds.

Typhoon Hagibis is currently expected on Saturday in Suzuka and could disrupt the qualifying session. This would not be a first in Japan. We will remember that qualifying and racing took place on the same day, on Sunday, during the editions 2004 and 2010 of the Japanese sleeve.
