Force India's future is still a subject of speculation due to the situation of its chairman Vijay Mallya. The Indian businessman announced that he was stepping down as CEO of United Spirits Ltd, a leading Indian spirits company taken over by Diageo, which reignited rumors of a departure from his team F1.
“Nothing has changed at Force India. I remain the Team Principal and General Manager”, the billionaire told the PTI agency. “It is necessary to release shares for security if you make a loan, but that does not mean that security has changed. Diageo may have guarantees over my shares, but the ownership has not changed. I don't know why everyone makes a big deal out of it. My withdrawal from United Spirits has nothing to do with F1. »
Force India will continue to field Sergio Pérez and Nico Hulkenberg in 2016 after taking fifth place in the Manufacturers' Championship last year.
