Vijay Mallya points out the F1 exception

The Strategic Group retains significant power today in Formula 1. The latter notably listed a number of tracks concerning the future of the discipline, a few days ago in Great Britain. If the Force India team is now part of this dominant group, its boss Vijay Mallya recalls that the functioning of F1 is a true exception in the sport.

“The teams discuss everything from technical regulations to income distribution... It is one of the rare sports where the teams have so much influence in its operation. In all other sports, you have a promoter and a regulator (the FOM and the FIA). Between them, they decide on the set of rules and indicate to all participants: you are here, here are the rules. You must respect them. »
explains the Indian on the official website of the discipline.

Mallya also believes that some teams have way too much influence in the process. “F1 is too democratic. There are teams in the Strategy Group that are extremely rigid, they only want to protect their own position. We have to live with what the group decides, which concretely means that we all have to live with what the big teams decide. We have our opinions and we express them clearly, but we are caught by the steamroller of the four major formations."
