Villeneuve is still working on his return

Jacques Villeneuve was present in Singapore this weekend to attend the Grand Prix of Formula 1 but also and above all to try to make a comeback in the discipline. While in Canada, many observers find this obsession ridiculous, the world champion hopes to find a seat next season. The son of Gilles Villeneuve hopes that one of the new teams (USFA, Campos, Manor, Lotus) will use his services as an experienced driver to allow a more effective entry into Formula 1.

« I have keys, Villeneuve confirmed to AFP. F1 is like relationships. We're always more interested when we're caught. It's like that. But you have to have touches, in order to conclude. You shouldn't play for nothing. »

The driver also reiterated that the Formula 1 that is taking shape in 2010 looks like what he would like. “ With the new regulations, the work will look more like what was done in the 1990s. You will have to be with the engineer a lot to develop the car. We will no longer put fuel during pit stops. I have always used less gas and tires than my partners. This is a regulation that would suit me. I would have a good card to play. »

However, despite his desire for Formula 1, Jacques Villeneuve confided that F1 was not his only avenue and that the situation should settle before the end of the year. “ But I don't want to wait that long. I also work in the United States. There may come a time when I will have to make a choice. And then, we shouldn't sign a week before the first GP either. You also have to prepare. » If he does not return to Formula 1 in 2010, Jacques Villeneuve cannot be blamed for not having tried.
