Webber was well in touch with Ferrari

Mark Webber confirmed this morning that he would indeed stay at Red Bull Racing in 2013 for his eighth season with the Austrian team. His good performances at the start of the season worked in favor of the Milton Keynes team while the Australian was offered another driver. The latter confirmed that he had indeed been in discussions with the Team Ferrari to replace Felipe Massa, but teammate of Sebastian Vettel declined the proposal. “My main goal is this year’s Championship which is very important”, commented the winner of the British GP who is the leader's closest rival Fernando Alonso. “The staff at Red Bull Racing are fantastic and I really enjoy working with them. This had a big impact on me and my performance behind the wheel and helped me make this decision. There were discussions with Ferrari but I chose to stay here. »

The Red Bull driver does not want to predict his future beyond the 2013 season where the discipline will experience a significant change with the arrival of new engines. For him, his future in F1 will depend above all on the results obtained. The last winner of the British GP does not seem to want to end his career in any case. “I have been constantly asked about my future for the past four years and my answer always remains the same”, added the 35-year-old Australian. “It’s a discipline based on results at the forefront, so my future is in my hands. It's up to me to perform well on the track. »
