Webber, Mercedes' other threat in Monaco

Mercedes showed up unbeatable in the qualifying game in Monaco even if the rain at the start of the session could upset the hierarchy. However, Red Bull was able to set the pace for the Silver Arrows after remaining discreet during free practice. The stable of Milton Keynes secured the second row with third place in Sebastian Vettel who will start alongside Mark Webber. The Australian, who celebrated two victories in 2010 and 2012 in the streets of the Principality, will be able to hope to fight at the forefront to try to achieve another success.

“I’m pretty happy with this result.”, declared Mark Webber after qualifying. “It is very easy to fall in the standings when you have such a disrupted session with these conditions, but we managed to overcome these difficulties to put in a good effort. We can always look at the times after the session and say to ourselves that we could have done better, but we make the decisions that we judge to be good in the present moment and in the end it wasn't too bad. The conditions were changing and managing the tires was tricky. The second row of the grid is therefore not a bad result. The race will be long and the strategies may offer opportunities. »
