Webber: Maldonado should leave with his results

Mark Webber was not kind to Pastor Maldonado. During an interview given to Sky Sports, the former pilot Red Bull questioned the presence of several paid pilots in F1, notably that of the Lotus driver supported by the Venezuelan oil group PDVSA, suggesting that several of them did not have the required level for the discipline.

“We know the level at the front well, but I think many paying drivers are just choosing which team they want to go to and whether they want to stay with the same one. For example, Pastor (Maldonado), who says he hasn't yet decided where he will go (in 2016).”, said the current pilot Porsche which rolls in WEC. “In what other sport does it happen like this? If you don't perform well, you have to leave."

Mark Webber, however, admits that he found himself in the position of paying driver when he started at Minardi. “There have always been paying drivers on the F1 grids, but when I started in 2002, or whether it was the mid-1990s or 2010, the drivers who had raced in the lower disciplines had more chances of reaching the top thanks to the results. They didn't need a government behind them », added the Australian.
