Webber regains his rank

Mark Webber thought he would take pole at Interlagos. Faster than Nico Rosberg, the Australian managed to take the best time before it was ultimately Rubens Barrichello who won. The pilot Red Bull is however satisfied with this result. “ I saw that I was oscillating between pole and third place. I would have liked to have had one last slot to take pole but I made a mistake. I think that for many drivers, it?s difficult to line up six perfect laps in these conditions. I am ultimately very happy with the way I drove during this session. »

Despite this great result, the Australian recognizes that the qualifications, which lasted almost three hours, were not a formality. “ It was a very difficult session, especially the first phase for Sebastian and me. The car was difficult in the heavy rain conditions. When the track became less wet, I was able to become more competitive again. »

Mark Webber, in difficulty at the start of the session, narrowly qualified for Q2. “ We knew that the intermediate tires were probably going to come into play. When I put them on, I noticed that it was not comfortable at all. Then the grip increased and I was able to get competitive times again. »

Concerning the weather conditions, Mark Webber recognizes that the session should not have started at the scheduled time, the rain preventing the cars from running in complete safety. “ I don't think it was a good decision to start in these conditions. The other drivers agreed with me. Fortunately, the right decisions were finally made but television decides these things and we had to start the session on time. You can't afford to lose control of the car in the last sector because, in these conditions, you are seen too late and the crash is terrible. We need to be able to control the car. »
