Webber blames himself for his poor strategy

Mark Webber wanted to take the gamble of putting on intermediate tires when the rain fell in Budapest. But the Australian was trapped like the other drivers who opted for these tires, the downpour ultimately being lighter than expected. The Australian regrets having lost positions, finishing the race in fifth place after being overtaken by Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) in the last laps.

“It was a nice Grand Prix until I made the wrong decision”, comments the pilot Red Bull. “I looked completely stupid when I took the intermediates to complete two laps. If it had rained more for three or four laps, it would have been a good decision because the advantage would have been significant. »

Mark Webber also regrets his start from the dirtiest and wettest side of the track. “It was quite slippery on this side of the grid”, adds Mark Webber. “I saw the pilots Mercedes who got off to a very good start, better than mine in any case. This was only the first part of the race, but we knew we were going to have choices to make. I've had some good ones and some bad ones. »
