Mark Webber was in a good position to overtake his teammate Sebastian Vettel during the final laps of the British GP. But Red Bull Racing had asked the Australian not to overtake the German, fearing a collision between the two drivers. Before the German GP, Mark Webber claims to have had positive explanations with his team director.
“We had a discussion right after the race”, confirms Mark Webber. “Christian (Horner) gave me his point of view to explain his decision and I gave mine. We concluded that we had both made the right decision, him in favoring the interests of the team and me in trying to improve my position. »
According to Mark Webber, the Australian does not have the status of second driver, although he could be on the verge of extending his contract with the Red Bull. “(Christian Horner) assured me that he would have acted the same way if the situation had been reversed. But being so close to a few laps from the goal doesn?t happen often, I think it was an embarrassing situation. »
