Webber wants to take over Vettel

Sebastian Vettel has clearly gained the upper hand over Mark Webber since his arrival at Red Bull. But the Australian is not a man to play second fiddle and hopes to be able to take over his young teammate, even if other drivers will also have to beat.

« It is obviously my goal to finish in front of as many drivers as possible. “, he told the BBC. “ Sebastian is very solid and had an impressive season last year. But, at times, we were really close to each other. »

« I hope we will be as close again this season, especially if we continue to encourage each other for the sake of the team. This time, I hope it will work out in my favor at the end of the season. Nothing is ever a foregone conclusion but I hope to give him a hard time. »

The season started better for Sebastian Vettel, even if the two Red Bull drivers did not leave Bahrain happy. Qualified in pole position, the German dominated the first Grand Prix of the year for a long time, before the failure of a spark plug deprived his RB6 of part of its power. First with fifteen laps to go, he finished fourth at the end of the race.

As for Mark Webber, sixth in qualifying, he got off to a bad start, even releasing a plume of smoke behind his car – blinding his pursuers, Adrian Sutil and Robert Kubica, who made a mistake. The Australian finished in eighth place, behind Jenson Button.
