Missed weekend for Romain Grosjean

Romain Grosjean had a bad start to his weekend at Hockenheim as he only started from 20th place on the grid after receiving a five-place penalty following a gearbox change. The Frenchman nevertheless hoped to make a good comeback in the rankings as he had done at Silverstone, but his race was spoiled by contact on the first lap causing a puncture and damage to the front wing. The driver failed to move up the positions and had to settle for a disappointing 18th place.

“I was behind with the penalty on the grid and nothing went as it should today”, admits Romain Grosjean who sees his teammate Kimi Räikkönen take the third step of the podium. “It’s all the more unfortunate as I had a good start and took several places at the first corner. Then there was contact on the straight and the race was ruined at that point. I don't know exactly what happened but my car was badly damaged with a broken front wing and a puncture. I could barely steer the car and had to pull straight out. We never want this kind of weekend but we have to deal with it and move forward. Luck will come at some point. The car is competitive in every race and we will be back next time. »
