Robert Wickens, Carlin driver competing in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, becomes the new reserve driver for the Marussia Virgin Racing F1 team, replacing Sako Yamamoto.

Wickens reserve driver of Virgin Racing

Robert Wickens occupies 2nd position in the Formula Championship Renault 3.5 Series. The Canadian is currently in the fight for the title, since he is only one point behind his teammate Jean-Eric Vergne. Following these promising results, he was offered the position of reserve driver for Virgin Racing, after the end of his contract with Sakon Yamamoto.

The Carlin pilot, who will join his opponent Daniel Ricciardo (Toro Rosso) during free practice, is obviously delighted by this news. “ I am delighted to be confirmed as a reserve driver for the Virgin Racing team », Comments the Canadian.
