Williams in favor of better income distribution

While Liberty Media, the new buyers of the F1, is considering reviewing the redistribution of income in order to favor the most modest structures, Williams Racing seems favorable to its implementation.

The Grove team is in the leading group since it took 5th place in the Manufacturers' Championship in 2016, but its status as a private team prevents it from being on par with the top teams who benefit from significantly greater funds.

“Liberty has indicated that they will try to implement a much more equitable distribution of income in order to sustain the future of the discipline, recalled Claire Williams, Team Principal of Williams Racing, during a congress in Germany. It's promising for us who are in the middle of the pack because we will benefit from it. »

“We are a team that is able to thrive at our level, whereas the bigger structures can reduce what they do. They could limit their number of employees or respect budget caps”, she suggested.

The situation of the most modest stables is not improving. The 2017 F1 season will only be contested by ten teams following the cessation of activities of Manor Racing which needed the income from 10th place in the Championship to be able to line up on the Grand Prix grids.
