Williams identified the culprits

Williams experienced his most frustrating race of the season in Monaco. Two spectacular accidents, two races ruined for no apparent reason and no points scored, while Rubens Barrichello was on the verge of a great performance. After the race, the reasons for Barrichello?s accident were unknown, while the front wing Nico Hulkenberg was already suspected. This Monday, Sam Michael, technical director of the Grove team, reveals what caused the accident of the two cars.

« Rubens suffered a broken rear suspension. We have an idea of the exact part that is responsible, but to be completely sure we have to wait for the materials to be tested at the factory. But that won't be a problem for the future. As for Nico, he experienced a clutch paddle sensor failure on the grid. He then hit the rear of an HRT in turn 1 and damaged the front wing supports. When he entered the tunnel, the front wing failed and he understeered into the wall. »

« These elements which failed were not newly designed and have been on the car since the start of the season, Michael continues. We now have a heavy workload to replace damaged parts, such as the diffusers and front wings. However, both chassis are in good condition, which is positive. »
