Williams worried about tire performance

Williams must get out of its current bad situation. After scoring no points at Silverstone (Great Britain), a first this season, the Grove team now only has a 19-point lead over Force India, which dreams of snatching fourth place in the Constructors' Championship.

The British structure must therefore reverse the trend this weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix even if several unknown elements worry the team which has chosen five sets of soft tires and seven of super softs (plus one of mediums) for its drivers.

“Even though the Hungaroring is one of the slowest circuits, it’s still a track where we can get a good result, assures Pat Symonds, Williams’ technical chief. Valtteri (Bottas) was in fifth place last year before dropping out of the points following contact. »

“We will bring a new flat base for this race following our continued development, but we will mainly focus on the high temperatures and the resurfacing of the track which will be very demanding on the tires. We expect to see two or three stop strategies in the race”, adds the Briton.

Valtteri Bottas will notably have to protect his seventh place in the Championship against Sergio Pérez who is back on seven points. “The Hungaroring is one of the most intense tracks of the season, explains the Finn. The route is difficult with many slow turns and very technical passages. It's far from being the easiest. »
