Williams quickly focused on 2016

Williams Racing quickly focused on the development of the car of the 2016 season after securing third place in the Manufacturers' Championship. After a year in 2014 where the Grove team created a surprise by beating the Team Ferrari, the British structure, was hopeful of doing even better the following season before suffering the return to the forefront of its Italian rival.

“Seeing that the second position was not accessible, we stopped the development of the (FW37) quite quickly”, explained Rob Smedley, director of the Williams Performance department, relayed by ESPN. “The end of the season was a little less brilliant compared to last year, but we had developed the car until the last moment. We focused more on 2016 and 2017 this season. »

Williams' hopes therefore rest in this new single-seater even if Rob Smedley reserves the right to discuss his team's objectives due to the progress of rival teams. “The car that is in the wind tunnel and the one that was driven at the end of the year are quite different”, underlined the engineer. “We could have a prolific winter but Ferrari and Red Bull will perhaps be even better…”
