Williams, another big hit at Suzuka?

Sixth in the Drivers' ranking, Alexander albon has been on cloud nine since the start of the season. If the season were to end now, the Thai would reach his best ranking in Formula 1, even ahead of his only season at Red Bull (7th in 2020). If its current position is anecdotal after two weekends, the 16 points collected testify to the revival of Williams.

With a few tweaks made over the winter, the Grove-based team has pulled off a remarkable feat by significantly improving the car's performance, while still retaining resources, time, and energy to focus on 2026 and the new regulations. With 17 points in total, Williams has already matched its total from last year—enough to give heart to both team employees and drivers. "We are super focused and motivated for this series of three consecutive races", announces Alex Albon. “We’ve had a very solid start to the season and the atmosphere within the team is excellent right now. Everyone is working very well together, and that positive energy is crucial for these successive races. We’re all pushing in the same direction, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve.”

Carlos Sainz seeks to launch his adventure with Williams on the right foot

"I've been working with the team since China to better understand the characteristics of the car in the first two races and try to unlock a little extra for the upcoming races.", explains on his side Carlos Sainz, who scored his first point with Williams in China thanks to the disqualifications. The Spaniard continues to acclimatize slowly before being able to fully demonstrate his talent.

“Suzuka is an incredible circuit to drive, and it’s a place we all love,” continues the former pilot Ferrari. “It’s one of my favorite venues of the season, and we can always count on the warm welcome from the Japanese fans to brighten up our stay! I’m looking forward to a solid weekend with the team and starting this first three-race run of the year on the right foot.”

Last year, Carlos Sainz finished on the podium (3rd), while Alexander Albon retired on the first lap after a collision. This weekend, James Vowles will prefer his protégés to take inspiration from the Spanish driver's performance rather than that of the Thai driver to continue this great momentum.
