Wolff: Settlement comes at the right time for Mercedes

Si Mercedes dominated the board of the F1 over the last three seasons, the hierarchy could evolve with the implementation of the new regulations which oblige the teams to partly concentrate on new bases.

The reigning world champion manufacturer might take a dim view of these changes, but the executive chairman of Mercedes Motorsport Toto wolff approaches this new season as a new challenge that will force the team to maintain its level of competitiveness.

“Everyone must be feared when the rules change, explained the Austrian on Radio 5 Live. No one expected Brawn to be a title contender in 2009. We are wary of everyone because everyone has a chance. »

“I was nervous 4 years ago when I questioned our ability to win races and titles and this nervousness had diminished a little with our results obtained in recent years. But there was also a risk that we became too confident and this rule change comes at the right time, added Toto Wolff. There may still be a scenario similar to 2009 with Ross (Brawn) and the dual broadcaster. We will probably see during the second test session in Barcelona (March 7-10) if anyone has developed an innovation that the others have not. »
