Wolff takes stake in Aston Martin

Si Aston Martin is today linked to the stable Red Bull Racing, the British manufacturer will join Racing Point in 2021 after owner Lawrence Stroll became the major shareholder.

The Canadian businessman is no longer the only personality in the paddock of the F1 to invest in the prestigious brand since Toto wolff, current director of Mercedes F1, also took shares. The Austrian would have invested around 42 million euros, or 0,95% of Aston Martin's capital.

On the Mercedes side, the star manufacturer wants to be reassuring despite speculation suggesting a departure of Toto Wolff to Aston Martin.

“This is a financial investment. Toto's partnership and executive role at Mercedes are not impacted by this transaction.", commented a spokesperson for the Silver Arrows.

If Aston Martin is a rival manufacturer to Mercedes on the F1 scene, Daimler has been a minority shareholder of the British brand since 2013 and remains a supplier for the British manufacturer. As for Toto Wolff, the head of the German team has always denied the rumors seeing him take a position at the head of Aston Martin.
