Wolff: “Sochi has not changed the situation”

The double of Mercedes at the Russian GP allowed the star-studded team to regain confidence after a series of successes Ferrari. The W10s seem to lag behind in terms of performance compared to the SF90s while the Circus de la F1 is preparing for the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend at Suzuka.

“It was a great feeling to experience this double in Sochi after three races without a victory, recognize Toto wolff. We had a strong race in Russia and built the gap in both championships, which helps maintain motivation for the last 5 races. »

“However, the victory in Sochi did not change the current situation where Ferrari had a better start to the second part of the season compared to us, recalls the executive director of Mercedes Motorsport. We will bring developments to the car in Japan which should help us progress, but we must exploit the full potential of the car and the tires if we want to claim victory. »

Mercedes, however, remains undefeated on Japanese soil since the introduction of Power Units in 2014.
