Ye Yifei joins the Renault Sport Academy

French F4 Champion in 2016, Ye yifei makes its entry into the Renault Sport Academy (RSA), the young driver sector relaunched by the French manufacturer when it returned as a full-fledged team three years ago.

Originally from Xian, the 18-year-old will play this season in Formula 3 under the colors of the Hi-tech GP team. Ye's arrival at the RSA was announced ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix, which hosts the 1000th round of the world championship this weekend. Formula 1

In the ranks of the academy, he joins his compatriot Zhou as well as the French Anthoine Hubert and Victor Martins, the Dane Christian Lundgaard, the Briton Max Fewtrell and the Brazilian Caio Collet.

« We've been watching Ye Yifei for a while, said Cyril Abiteboul, general director of Renault Sport Racing. He impressed us with his results in all categories, but also with his ability to integrate into any sporting or cultural environment. ».

On a Chinese market that all the world's manufacturers look at with Chimène's eyes, we imagine that the boy's nationality also played a role in his recruitment. Renault doesn't really hide it. The Losange is said thus: determined to identify, support and train Chinese talents to reach F1, a dream dreamed of by 1,4 billion Chinese ».
