Yuki Tsunoda in the points with the second Red Bull, a first since Las Vegas 2024

Having finished in the top 10 on Saturday and Sunday, Yuki Tsunoda had a successful second weekend with Red Bull. Ninth in the Bahrain GP, the Austrian team's second-place driver had not reached the top 10 since Las Vegas last year.

After the Bahrain Grand Prix, the results of Yuki tsunoda in Red Bull is already better than that of his predecessor Liam Lawson. If the Bahraini weekend of Max Verstappen is lackluster compared to his performance on the Suzuka track (winner), that of his Japanese teammate is more than positive, since he achieved his first qualification in the top 10 and scored his first points for the Austrian team.

« I am happy for the first points, confided the Sagamihara native after his ninth place. However, I feel like I could have done better, especially in this race, my pace was good. The team could also have done a better job, especially on the pit stops. » Indeed, just like his Dutch teammate, Yuki Tsunoda was the victim of the clumsiness of his team which, an event unusual enough to be noted, had a bad Sunday by missing several pit stops due, among other things, to a faulty light, thus wasting precious seconds.

A first since Las Vegas 2024

The new Red Bull driver's first small feat came on Saturday. By reaching an unexpected Q3 given his pace in the Free Practice sessions, he became the first in 2025 to score second. car of Milton Keynes in the top 10 in qualifying. However, his real performance came the next day: by opening his points tally with Red Bull, Yuki Tsunoda also broke a black streak for the second seat of the Austrian team. He had been out of the points since the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 23, a drought of six races. At that time, Mexican driver Sergio Pérez was at the wheel. He finished 10th, a performance not enough to convince his team to keep him.

« I'm still learning, explained Yuki Tsunoda. I'm happy with my performance and I want to continue this momentum. However, I'm not rushing; more difficult races are coming up and will be important moments for me. Let's see how I handle it, but there are still many challenges ahead of me. »

Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), the next event of the season, is certainly one of the challenges mentioned by Tsunoda. On the very narrow Corniche circuit, the track limits are walls and mistakes are fatal. Thus, the Japanese driver will have no joker and, if he wants to perform, will have to quickly find the winning setting for his car.

In absolute terms, a 9th place finish for a top team is nothing to brag about. But considering Verstappen couldn't do better than 6th, it's not bad at all. In any case, he proves the RBR staff wrong, who didn't want him.

Well done ….. to Yuki, I'm happy for him, and this is ….. only the beginning…… even if the Red Bull, at the moment is not working well. But for Yuki, it's a good start …….and for morale it's exactly what he needed ……..
